xplanetFX: new style „Circle“ in theme „Tron“
Montag, den 2. Mai 2011xplanetFX: new style in theme „Tron“
Mittwoch, den 27. April 2011I added a new idea as a style to the Tron theme called „Plasma“. The colours of both styles doesn’t fit that well, don’t know by now if it bothers me that much. Although I think the death-star style moon looks funny I disabled it in the theme due to problems with the flashy overlay of the Plasma style.
xplanetFX 2.2.19: Packages renamed !important
Donnerstag, den 21. April 2011Due to problems with the latest development version of Ubuntu (11.10) I had to change the package name of xplanetFX to xplanetfx. It doesn’t affect the program at all but may be a major change for your DEB package management. The first and ugliest effect you may encounter:
You possibly don’t get updates from the deb repository for xplanetFX anymore!
This just could happen, all tests worked flawlessly by now, so it seems aptitude gives a fuck for capitalization (and so do I ^^)
Just to be clear – the software hasn’t changed. The executable stays „xplanetFX“, the same counts for the folders, pixmaps etc.
If you’re encountering problems you have different options:
Simply install the new package
It doesn’t harm your system if you install the new package called „xplanetfx“ and give a shite for the last version of xplanetFX. Since no new files or folders are installed there’s just a redundant entry in your aptitude waiting for updates ‚till doomsday.
Uninstall xplanetFX first
If you are suffering from mania for cleanliness you could do „apt-get remove xplanetFX“ first before you install the new package xplanetfx. This will remove the entry xplanetFX from aptitude but shouldn’t change anything else.
Call 0800-mein-neues-blog.de for help .)
I would be happy if you report your problems in the comment section.
Addendum
I’ve done a lot of testing, but I don’t know how the new package will behave in the wild. So I’m really appreciating bugreports about problems! Tests on different Debians and Ubuntus didn’t show any flaws, the package management got it right by now. This counts for the DEB-repository and the deb packages installed via gdebi.
For example I was able to do an „apt-get install xplanetFX“ on my Machine without a flaw, the same goes for uninstallation. So I don’t expect problems in the first place but one never knows… .)
xplaneFX 2.2.18: Bug with paths
Dienstag, den 19. April 2011Version 2.2.18: * Bug with $USERDIR in daemon hitting while installing a fresh working place in /home * Call the GUI via variable path (instead of absolute)
xplanetFX 2.2.15: random templates
Mittwoch, den 13. April 2011Version 2.2.15: * New function: xplanetFX --random selects a random style and restarts a running xplanetFX afterwards * Bug in install_template() in daemon: variable was set with $cor
xplanetFX: update in theme „bulb“
Montag, den 7. März 2011I extracted the essential parts of „bulb“ and draw new shadows to be more flexible in coloring the background. The result is an update for „bulb“ you can easily get via the update wizard in the tools tab or the themepool directly.
Btw… the theme works best with orbit enabled at an angle of about -70 degrees.
Update: There was a tiny bug in the night style. If you downloaded within the first seconds it was online please reinstall via theme pool.
xplanetFX 2.2.12: nicer atmo, specular size and render time, bugs
Donnerstag, den 24. Februar 2011Version 2.2.12: * Atmosphere creation rewritten (no falloff to border and no 'hot spots' on 0°, 90°, 180° and 270° anymore, nicer color and blur) * Specular creation rewritten (lighting gets dodged in a single layer instead of two and is a little bit smaller. Reduces specular render time ~30%) * Switched h/q cloud enlargement from "scale" to "resize" and added a better filter type for clouds enlargement (Welsh) to produce less artifacts and blur * Adjusted sharpening of resized clouds * Bug in corona section in daemon: don't sign integer values if offset gets negative (corona was displaced if it's position was outside the canvas) * Same bug in the atmosphere section of the daemon
xplanetFX 2.2.9 / 2.2.10: bugfixes
Montag, den 14. Februar 2011Version 2.2.10: * Bug in create_pixbuf_theme: convert config var to INT before comparing (overlay didn't show up in the preview) Version 2.2.9: * Bug in callback of post button: star pixbuf has to be refreshed, too (stars weren't updated properly on post f/x toggle)
xplanetFX 2.2.8: new effect – atmosphere
Montag, den 14. Februar 2011Version 2.2.8: * Added new effect: atmosphere draws a subtle blue gleam over lit edges of the earth (its impact on render time is comparable to the corona. The effect is very similar, too but it is located above the earth, not around it. Its main intention is to soften the edge between earth, clouds and corona) * Specular icon modified * Splash modified * Show splash through gobject.idle_add to force drawing on the screen even if the gtk loop is busy already
xplanetFX 2.2.6: realtime preview on view tab
Samstag, den 12. Februar 2011Version 2.2.5: * New feature: realtime xplanet preview of the earths view on the view tab * New feature: Drag'n'drop of crosshair on the view tab * Improved appearance of crosshair on the view tab (was hardly visible over some areas and covered the target below) * Speed up of view widget: worldmap and grid are cached on a surface and redrawn only on expose event * Bug in the worldmap: implemented equidistant cylindrical projected map (was isographic and therefore inaccurate away from the equator) * Edited orbit widget background to fit the xplanetFX earths style (and to have a thinkpad below ^^) * Behavior of some events: added blocking states to some event handlers (prevents earth previews and cursor from jumping around and keeps some resets less cpu intensive) * Edited the splash a little bit Version 2.2.6: * Bug in draw_view: crosshair was inaccurate by 0.5 pixels * Added the moon to the xplanet preview
